Barton Florence

Speaker of Assembly Appointee

In May 2007, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez appointed Barton Florence, District Representative for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Stationary Local No. 39, to serve on the Employment Training Panel.

Mr. Florence worked for the State of California as an electrician before joining Local 39 in 1992. He has served the Union as a Business Representative, Trustee of Pension and Health and Welfare funds, Joint Apprenticeship Committee member, and Chief Negotiator for State of California Bargaining Unit 13. He currently holds the dual position of District Representative and State Units 12 and 13 Coordinator. He has worked with both private and public sector employees and employers in Northern California and Northern Nevada and helped to expand the Local 39-Sacramento Training office.

"I look forward to working with my fellow Panel members to enhance this one-of-a kind state program."

Mr. Florence is married with two children and resides in Fair Oaks, CA.
